North Central Phoenix
North Central Phoenix was a prime location for residential development as downtown Phoenix began expanding in the 1940’s and 1950’s. Its central Phoenix location was known by the stretch of land along the Central Avenue corridor between Camelback Ave and Northern Ave (between 7th Avenue and 7Th street); commonly known as the “the sevens.” This affluent neighborhood has always been popular and in high demand due to two main factors. One, its location is only 10 minutes from downtown’s high-rise filled business district, making it an easy commute for business people. Two, it parallels Murphy’s Bridal Path, a well maintained dirt and sand packed pathway that was originally used for those with horses and horse property in the late 1800’s. The Bridal Path, as it is referred to today, is commonly used for recreation and exercise; and remains one of the main reasons why people love living in the north central area.
North Central is known for its one-story ranch homes; filled with green grassy years, hanging American flags and friendly neighborhoods. One increasingly popular aspect of North Central is the new small-business commerce that is popping up everywhere. This area is exploding with ‘Mom and Pop’ coffee houses, restaurants, bars, shops and general local merchants; unlike Scottsdale’s national big-box restaurants and shops. North Central Phoenix is enabling patrons and neighbors to feel a sense of community again much like Mayberry; it’s no wonder its popularity has soared in the last two years.
